Scottish software specialist Absoft has reinforced its commitment to its rapidly-expanding English customer base with the creation of a new London office.

The Aberdeen-headquartered company, supplier of the leading business software package SAP, marks the opening of its first regional office in Lyric Square, Hammersmith, with the announcement of a £60,000 deal with agricultural merchants, J&H Bunn Ltd.

The contract win is the latest in a string of deals in key sectors for Absoft outwith its core oil and gas business, which have contributed to one of the most exciting periods of growth in the company’s 20 year history.

A diverse group, J&H Bunn also has substantial interests in offshore chemicals, environmental disposal and agricultural contracting. While the original work will see an SAP pilot system installed in the core business, this will form the blueprint for a future roll-out of the system across all of the company’s business divisions and locations. Absoft will initially host and manage the software from its dedicated data centre in Aberdeen.

J& H Bunn director John Fuller commented: “The complexity of our business lends itself to SAP’s flexibility and breadth of functionality, especially widening opportunities for online communications and integration.

“The new system will give us a single view of all the company’s business activities across all locations and provide an excellent platform for further expansion. We have been impressed with Absoft’s depth of experience and ongoing support, and look forward to embarking on a long-term partnership with them.”

Absoft managing director Ian Mechie said: “This investment in a new operation in the capital is a clear demonstration of our commitment to servicing our ever increasing customer base in England and will help support our strategic objective of continued diversification.

“Securing this latest contract is excellent news for the business and I am confident that having a permanent presence south of the border will help drive further growth going forward.

The new London office will be headed by customer relationship manager Richard Bell with plans to recruit additional staff in the future.
