A drilling contractor has achieved international accreditation of a maintenance management system onboard their latest deepwater drillship, following a rigorous assessment from one of the largest classification bodies in ship and offshore certification.
Dolphin Drilling, an independent contractor of mobile drilling units worked with SAP software specialist for upstream oil and gas, Absoft, to implement a computerised maintenance management system onboard their state of the art Bolette Dolphin drillship. DNV-GL carried out a thorough evaluation of the SAP planned maintenance system, implemented onboard the Bolette Dolphin, awarding internationally-recognised certification after the solution met the stringent requirements of Rules for Classification of Ships.
The planned maintenance management system also operates within NORSOK standard Z008, which is a risk based maintenance and consequence classification developed by the Norwegian petroleum industry, for preparation and optimisation of maintenance activities for equipment and plant.
Helge Haugland, Vice President Asset Integrity, Dolphin Drilling, said “The new plant maintenance system is an important enabler for realisation of our Asset Integrity Strategy.”
Don Valentine, Absoft Commercial Director said: “Securing DNV-GL accreditation for the maintenance management system is a milestone achievement and sets the standard for plant maintenance planning operations onboard drillships”.
“Working alongside Dolphin Drilling, we have been able to implement a maintenance solution which has met some of the most rigorous requirements the industry has to offer and this success reinforces our message to the industry that system improvements delivered in SAP can bring tangible benefits in terms of safety, efficiency and regulatory compliance.”
