Tools You Can Use
Despite the 2027 deadline seeming daunting, SAP have provided several tools to facilitate a smoother transition. Their Readiness Checker can help identify which approach would be best for existing ECC users, isolating areas such as brownfield or greenfield and whether it should be private or public cloud.
Additional tools such as Process Discovery can reveal how and where a standard process would be beneficial, unveiling gaps and areas for improvement for S/4HANA deployment.Â
Growing numbers of businesses are moving to a greenfield route embracing its simplified and standardised approach. For these businesses, SAP’s Digital Discovery Assessment (DDA) can walk them through both public and private cloud implementations to a high level.
Decision Time
With these tools, a business can have a fact-based discussion with its SAP partner about the options. Once it’s confirmed that the company is a good fit for the standard model, the public cloud SaaS option would be a straightforward fit. If not, then a private cloud edition gives would more flexibility.
Conversely, if the business doesn’t fit any of these standard approaches, the final option is an on-premise approach. The business will retain the full flexibility of old-school SAP configurability, the ability to add as many developments as appropriate, and control over hosting and infrastructure providers. The business must, however, be prepared to upgrade and run the system.
Coupled with an expert partner by your side, who can oversee the technical aspects of your implementation and transition, you can expect a seamless road to S/4HANA.
...And Breathe!
With the standardisation, the range of tools available, and when combined with an SAP expert partner, the entire process is clear and concise. It should give you confidence that whichever route is best for your business, the journey to the cloud is achievable and desirable. The time to follow the yellow brick road out is now!
