Ageing and Life Extension Inspection Programme (KP4) is a key focus of HSE’s Energy Division (OSD) on major hazard work priorities, with the aim of the programme to raise awareness and develop strategies for the management of risk associated with ageing infrastructure in the North Sea.

Following a three year inspection programme examining the physical condition of 33 offshore assets and infrastructure, the HSE made recommendations for Operators to focus on the development of strategies for Ageing and Life Extension (ALE) in order to sustain long term asset integrity management and operations in the UKCS.

Absoft employees attended launch of the KP4 seminar at the AECC in Aberdeen on Wednesday 28th of May 2014 which provided a unique opportunity to learn about the findings from the offshore regulator’s report first-hand and to gain an appreciation of the industry position on ALE.
